CHILD GUIDANCE CENTER
EXCELLENCE AWARDS - 2006
Crisis Response Team - Joe Mella
Theresa Rulien,
CRT's Program Director, had this to say about Joe, "I first want to thank the Crisis Response Team for their hard work this year. They have responded to over 290 calls since school began in the fall with hours of follow-up and then, on top of that, hours of contract work to make up lost funding. I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Thank You!
Now let me read some of the comments made about the recipient of this year’s Crisis Response Team Excellence Award.
This team member is described by a co-worker as someone who 'is a team player and is very flexible with his schedule.' Another team member writes,
'Where would we be as a new team without this person’s knowledge of both the agency and computers? Always forward thinking and willing to lend a hand, he is a major asset to CRT, as he goes about sharing ‘How To Do It’ and creating new ways to use our tools and serve our clients.'" |

Baker County Outpatient Team - Linda Parrish
There’s a very special lady in Baker County whose smile brightens up the room. In fact, we’ve never seen her without that smile. She is a true professional. She’s humble and has no idea how clinically gifted she really is.
Her co-workers describe her as caring and dedicated to the children who come to the Center. She’s warm and inviting. It’s tough coming to see a therapist for the first time, but she has a gift for putting people at ease. Her face says, “Welcome; consider yourself at home; it’s ok to put your feet on the coffee table; you’re valued here!”
She has also gone the extra mile to make our new neighbors, Clay-Baker Kids Net, to feel welcome.
We are very proud to present the Excellence Award to Linda Parrish. |

Full Server Schools Program - Leah Witt
The Full Service Schools have some wonderful therapists but one that truly shines is Leah Witt. Her co-workers describe her as a “hard worker who works far beyond the normal 40 hour week, someone who goes out of her way to meet with families, and someone who is willing and able to help other therapists with difficult cases.”
She not only consistently goes beyond what is required of her, she does so with a smile. We can’t remember a time when Leah ever complained. She has a positive attitude, is eager to learn, and is a high producer.
The children in the Andrew Jackson feeder pattern have been very fortunate to have Leah available to them. Her compassion and concern as well as her professionalism are remarkable.
We are very proud to present The Excellence Award for the Full Service Schools to Leah Witt. |

Westside Outpatient - Pamela Brookins
In the Westside of Jacksonville you’ll find a treasure. She’s a transplant from Louisiana and we’re so glad she moved to Jacksonville. Her peers at WDT Outpatient Center describe her has “always willing to listen and provide support whether the issue is clinical or administrative.”
She is well liked by her clients, their families, and the staff with whom she works. She’s very humble and probably doesn’t yet realize how gifted she is.
She has a positive attitude and a great smile. She exudes warmth and love when referring to her clients. Children open up to her very quickly because as we know, children don’t care how much you know until they know how much she cares. Pam cares!
We are very proud to present the Excellence Award for the Westside Outpatient Center to a very deserving candidate, Pamela Brookins. |

Arlington Outpatient - Maria Stanley
Have you ever seen anyone perform six tasks at one time with two hands? Then stop by Arlington Outpatient Center sometime and marvel. Not only can she input data, answer the phone, make copies, schedule the next appointment, tell the therapist their next client is here, and hand a child a toy to keep him occupied at the same time, but she does so with a smile.
Few people have the ability to handle high stress jobs and exude joy, kindness, and compassion simultaneously. Few people send “thank you e-mails”. Few people go out of their way to tell people to have an “awesome day”. We know one person who does all these exceptional things and more.
We proudly award Arlington Outpatient’s first Excellence Award to Maria Stanley. No one could be more deserving. |

Northside Outpatient - Jeanne Peel
Northside Outpatient Center is very fortunate to have an exceptional therapist whose name is Jeanne Peel. Her co-workers agree that she goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to her clients. She does research on her own time to provide the most up to date, state of the art clinical skills available.
She is described as a real team player, helping her co-workers not only with difficult clinical issues, but even sharing her knowledge of computers.
Her calm, warm presence is appreciated by clients and staff as well. It’s a treat to see how excited the children in the waiting room are to see her.
Northside Outpatient is proud to present the 2006 Excellence Award to Jeanne Peel. |

Case Management - Kimberly Boast
This Case Manager exemplifies team excellence in a very professional manner. She has a genuine caring heart in general and makes sure that clients and their families get adequate and timely services. She’s a very effective Case Manager who without fail presents herself in a professional manner at all times. She is dedicated, hardworking and an all around team player. She is always willing to share any information she has with her co-workers in order to make their jobs easier. She never fails to recognize peers on birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other important events in their lives. In order to boost morale, she initiated efforts to provide continental breakfast for the team on a quarterly basis, started a newsletter and spearheaded a holiday door decorating contest. The Excellence Award winner for Case Management is Kimberly Boast. |

Southside Outpatient - Angie Pino
Angie has been described as a dedicated, committed therapist who frequently goes the extra mile for her children and families. Although she is the newest member of her group, her peers admire her and praise her. They predicted that “she will probably be embarrassed by getting this award” because she’s much more interested in learning and doing a good job than in being recognized.
Many people will think Angie earned this award because she is the highest producer in all of Outpatient, however, this was not one of the accomplishments mentioned by her peers. They say, “She is the type of person who is always striving to know more, do more and be more. Her clients know for sure that she is committed to them and their progress. It’s hard to find someone who loves children more than Angie, and if I were a child, I would want her to be the one to help guide me to success.”
When it comes to learning, she’s a sponge. Senior therapists recognize that “she really listens when asking for clinical advice.” The whole team feels privileged to “have watched her bloom as a therapist.”
Southside Outpatient is proud to present the Excellence Award to Angie Pino in whom all things seem to be possible. |

Administration - Virginia Beer
Quite simply if Virginia
had not taken ownership of Harmony, who knows how bad this change would have been for CGC. .Virginia is professional, efficient and a great team player – always willing to help out others on projects. She is creative, organized; always wanting to be helpful wherever she can. She remains calm while being pulled in several different directions. Everyone knows they can depend on her when they need help.
We are amazed at her kindness and patience. |
