Supervised Visitation and Parent Education Services

Visitation services are provided to children placed in protective custody by the court due to abuse or neglect so they can have supervised time with their parents, siblings and other relations in a safe and nurturing environment. The goal of this service is to assist with reunification and strengthening of the family unit.

Parent Education is provided to parents who have a referral from the court or a child welfare agency.

Program Objectives

  1. To provide supervised visitation for children and their families in safe locations.
  2. To provide parenting education classes to improve parenting skills and child well being.
  3. To provide written documentation of observations of the visitation session for use by the foster caseworkers in their reports to the court.
  4. To assist with reunification and strengthening of the family unit.

Target Population

Children and adolescents, ages 0-18, who are placed in foster care, relative care or non-relative care in Duval County and their families as requested by the Community Based Care organizations.
