IN MEMORIAMWilliam R. Turk, M.D.  In memory of Dr. William R. Turk, board member of the Child Guidance Center, Inc. who served as a distinguished trustee on the board from 1997-2007. Under Dr. Turk’s leadership, Child Guidance Center, Inc. attained national accreditation, implemented numerous innovative programs and was widely recognized for the quality of services provided to the community. Dr. Turk’s effort to improve the quality of life for children, adolescents and their families at Child Guidance Center was exemplary.
Dr. Turk was the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Nemours Children’s Clinic, Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, the Director of the Child Neurology Training Program at the Mayo Graduate School of Education, and Chair Elect of the Epilepsy Foundation of America National Professional Advisory Board. Over the course of his career, Dr. Turk authored publications in pediatric neurology, spoke at many national medical conferences, and held regional and national positions of leadership in epilepsy and pediatric neurology. He was the recipient of fellowships, grants, and awards from the National Institutes of Health, the Nemours Foundation, and the Mayo Foundation. Dr. Turk was a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Epilepsy Society, the Child Neurology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and the Florida Medical Association. Donations can be made in honor of Dr. Turk to the Epilepsy Foundation of America, William Turk Pediatric Research Award (www.epilepsyfoundation.org) or the William R.
